I would like to try a year of thematic unit studies. We will include: Under the Sea, Dinosaurs, Bugs, Pond Life, Our World, Musical Instrument, and more depending on where the kids' interest takes us!
I hope to use a lot of literature, art and music.
I plan to do 'circle time' each morning.
Ideally Kindergarten would be broken up into 2 chunks a day where the first session would be our standard routine including 'circle time', language arts, math, and Spanish, and the second session would be our thematic activities.
We use tons of supplementary materials (as you can tell from the pictures of our classroom). But, in this post I am just including our main curriculum.

- Sing, Spell, Read & Write
- Explode the Code (Book 1 & Book 2)
- Heidi Songs

- Your Big Backyard
- Nature Study

What are you planning for the upcoming school year? Please link your exact blog post to the Linky below and link back here too!
Thank you SO much for this! I'm trying to get all our stuff organized and with so many different curricula out there I feel lost sometimes. I want to homeschool but I really need someone to tell me what to do. lol :)
ReplyDeleteHave you checked out Rosetta Stone for Spanish? I use it with my independent study students and it works pretty good for them.
ReplyDeleteI love you choices, especially the themes. I have a year of preschool/Kindergarten topics laid out on my blog...you can find them at http://susanlemons.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/unit-studies-for-preschoolers-and-beyond/
ReplyDeleteBYW, we have used SSRW with 4 children now with great success. If your children ever get "stuck", just relax for awhile, play the games, sing the songs, and wait a while...it will eventually click. Remember though, that by the end of the "First year kit" your children will actually be reading at a third grade level, so it's OK for you to spend more than a year (or two) to finish it.
Blessings,

Blessings,
I always enjoy reading others' plans as I'm trying to come up with my own plans. We are going to do a year of thematic units, also.
